Preparation for shipping the car to Europe, photographs taken and posted 2008.05.20
“Tomorrow morning my car goes in a container. It will have the battery disconnected and a minimal amount of fuel in it.
Then it goes to Montreal by rail, Hamburg by ship, and ultimately to Frankfurt by truck. The container will be unsealed at
destination, cleared by customs, and be ready for my to pick up June 13.
The plan is as follows:
June 13 Drive from Frankfurt to Mulhouse, France and see the Schlumpf Collection, the greatest Bugatti collection of all.
June 14 A fast run in the German Black Forest with the local Porsche club
June 15 sightseeing in Heidelberg and Strasbourg.
June 16 drive to Munich, get a private tour of BMW Mobile Tradition and the new museum which will open to the public a week later
June 17 Porsche factory tour
June 18/19 Stopover in Berlin. a city I love
June 20 Drive to Spa /Francorchamps
June 21 half day on Spa track, head for Nurburg, and evening session on Ring.
June 22 rest of week on Nordschleife, half day training with Markus Gedlich
June 27/8 Old Timer GP at the Nurburgring F1 track nearby, evening session on Ring
June 29 Brussels..install Ring sticker on car if it has survived this long.
June 30 Drive to Frankfurt and drop car.
Car nav has been reprogrammed for Europe, German environmental sticker now in place, and tires and pads pre-ordered from
Manthey at the NS.

Shipping the car to Europe. Photographs taken and posted 2008.05.21
“Today was drop off day, and an interesting complication. They need to disconnect the battery to ship in a container. The battery
in in the front compartment, which can only be opened ..with the battery connected. SO..had to arrange to have the car shipped
with a foam shim to prevent complete closure of the lid. You can do it manually but it involves removing a wheel, so thats no fun.
Next time I will see this car is June 13.”

Porsche Panorama magazine, August 2013 issue, page 44:
““There was fur,” says a judge to Stephanie Perry and Ronan McGrath
of Toronto. Never mind that their dog died six months prior. After some
forensic thinking, Stephanie realizes that a single hair migrated from their
foyer floor to their luggage to the back of their 2008 GT3 RS. Evidently,
nothing is too infitesimal to escape a judge’s notice.”
